wogoman weekly - volume 3 issue 51
This week can best be summed up as a very very heavy week, one filled with lots of prayer and lots of thinking about our extended family.
On the first day of summer vacation our nephew Alec was playing basketball at home and fell into the pole. A nasty bolt torn his right leg from just below the knew cap, 2 inches deep and 8 inches long. He also broken his leg. So he had surgery to repair the damage and to try and fix a nerve that he torn. He is basically on bed rest for .... a very long time.
My grandmother says that bad things happen in three and that seems to be true. My cousin Jordan was take to the emergency room, her blood pressure was sky high, which is terrible for her baby. After debating with the doctors, her son, Luke, was brought into this world on Sunday weighing in a 1 pound 1 ounce. He is so small and so fail, but the doctors are hopeful at this point. My cousin has been release from the hospital and if everything goes well Luke will be there at least until September which was his original due date. Technology is amazing and even though we can't go to see him right now we have been able to see videos of him already.
You can take your pick on what is considered the third bad thing. Jeff almost was hit while coming back from IU or the fact that one of my students is the teen in Bristol that the tractor rolled over and caught fire. Or that Jason's mom is now in the hospital to have her gall bladder removed. When it rains it just seemed to pour.
With all this going on still good things are happening. Life moves on and brings the good and the bad, the funny and the sad.
We went to a two year old twin birthday party. Tenille had a great time and is trying to decide which one of the boys to date first. :) Daddy is not happy about this.
I went to Walmart this week to get a few things and ended up fighting the self check out. I had to call the lady over three times to help me. On the last time when my gift card wouldn't work I said, well I must not be holding my face right. The lady looked at me and said, "Is your family hilly billy?" How are you supposed to answer that? I asked why? and she said well that is a saying from the south. Oh I got it from my father, was my reply. She then said and I quote, "We have another saying but people around here don't like it much. It's there is more than one way to skin a cat." Oh my, is this lady part of my family or what?
Tenille cleaning out the skimmer, an everyday activity.
Tenille has started telling ding dong jokes. What is that you ask? It is a funnier version of knock knock jokes. She just starts them all with ding dong instead. Funny huh? Well with that I will you all a happy father's day weekend. And please, everybody, take care of yourself!More impovements on our house. We replaced a few roten boards from the deck. Who in their right mind would cover up that beautiful cedar with brown paint?

wogoman weekly - volume 3 issue 50
We have been using the pool almost every night. Tenille is getting so brave. She knows she has to have her floatie on and sun screen.... that means to her even when it is 7 pm at night. :) Hey a rule is a rule right? She is getting so brave and jumping in from the steps. Last night it was 85 degrees. It was awesome. Getting out was cold but we managed. :)
Tenille is trying hard to improve her vocabulary. Right now the word definitely is being used all the time. She also uses "last year" to talk about anything that happened in the past . . yesterday.... last week.... two hours ago . . .all of them are "last year". So cute.
I am just itching to get to work outside again . . .all day. Well that is except for the 10 am visit with my neighbors. Everyday they get the mail and paper, eat cookies and drink coffee. Even when it is 100 degrees outside. I stop by and visit them often in the summer. Their kids (all grown with kids of their own) live far away. So Tenille and I stop by to make sure they are doing fine. Last year I am pretty sure they planted pickles just for Tenille. She would eat those things raw like they were candy. Pretty good trick huh? raw veggies = candy nice!
Tenille got to see her cousins this weekend. We had lunch with baby Kate, and dinner with Alec, brie and heather. Luke was on quarantine because he was sick. :( Tenille a great time. She even water's Heather's plants. I think approximately 10 gallons went to each plant.
We also went to first Fridays in Goshen. It was a great time. We were super disappointed however to find out Woodruff's downtown does not sell kids shoes anymore. :( Off to the Internet I guess I go.
One more day of school!
On a Tenille note, I tell Tenille every night that I believe in her. Last night the conversation went like this:
me:remember I believe in you
t: believe that I can do what
me: anything you want, fix any problem
t:with a hammer?
me:sure if it needs one
t:and go like this (hitting her stomach) bang bang bang.
me.: um yep
t:good night
me:good night
t:hey mommy
me;yes (I'm ready for a good life altering questions here)
t:what do frogs eat?
me: oh, flies hunny
t:bad flies
me:yep
t:OK
That girl's brain must go a million miles a minute! I think she asked about "bad flies" because she checked traps with my dad yesterday and they got a "bad" woodchuck. funny huh? Have a great week!

wogoman weekly - volume 3 issue 49
4 more days of school. 4 more days of school. 4 more days of school. It is my mantra as I try to get past these kids who have shut down. It is so hard to work kids saysing .. . I don't want to do this, you can't make me do this. It is so frustrating when I hear these things. Yep, I want to be outside too, but here we are, inside. There was a conversation happening this weekend that I just walked away from. It was about how the whole education system is messed up and that is because teachers don't care about their kids. Believe me, I care WAY more than those kids do. Gotta love my man mitch because soon I will get paid and evaluated on how those, I don't care kids are doing. :) Ok, off the horse.
Tenille is digging our pool and our garden. She is a big help in both. She cleans out the skimmer everyday as soon as we get home. She used to just watch but that won't work for her, now she wants to do it. We of course have to get rid of the dead bugs but she loves it. As for the garden we check on our peas and we are watching our broccoli. She keeps helping me plant things and watering them. Now I just hope we get something she can eat! I have a tomoto on, as well as two peppers, and a flower on the squash. :) Today offically starts our CSA. I am so excited to see what veggies end up in our box this week. Every week, fresh veggies, yummo!
I was able to see Kate twice this weekend. Tenille just loves being with her and wants to hold her all the time. My mom took a great picture of the four of us with this question, "If there are two moms, two sisters, two daughters and two cousins in a picture, how many are in the picture? (-:
good question . . I guess 4!
