What a great week! We left for the great state of Michigan this past weekend. We took four days off and relaxed. The weather was AWESOME! It is always raining and cold, yet this year it was high 80's and sunny. So great! Tenille had a great time and was such a trooper. She was not sure about the beach. It took almost the whole three days to convince her that it was ok to get dirty and it was ok to walk in the water. But after we got out the sand toys, watch out world, there was no stopping her! She got sand in places I didn't even know she had! We were close to the beach this year and that was great. We found absolutely no mushrooms but the weather out weighed that so it was nice. We got our yearly sunset picture and ate at Dairy Queen even though now it is some other name. We nearly panicked when we saw the sign down. What would we do if we lost a tradition? We also found the letter box that someone had left on avalanche hill. There was math involved and we had to count all the stairs up and half way down but we found it. J is the best at this game! If you don't know what letterboxing is, look it up at http://www.letteringboxing.org/ . We have clues to a box that someone has left. There is a stamp inside. Once you find it you leave your stamp in the box and you put their stamp in your book. We even picked up a hitchhiker and now that book and stamp will travel with us until we find another box. There are some in Middlebury here that we haven't found so maybe we will leave it there. Tenille's vocabulary is increasing everyday. It is so cool to watch her learn. If you ask her a question and she doesn't understand or want to answer you she says, "huh?" and she will keep doing that until you stop asking. :) She likes to say that my daddy (her name for J) is funny. So we have to say, Yes Tenille daddy is funny. She is trying to love on the dogs more and more. They are doing a great job hanging in there! While I typed the email to you last week about the loggers, a part broke on a machine and they have not been able to finish the job. So frustrating. I just want them in, and out, and done with! Then we can really start cleaning this place up. One of our neighbors stopped by this week and said she can't believe how much we have done already. So at least we haven't scared them away! On a side note my garden in growing oodles! That seems to be about it. I have 8 more days of school, praise be! Today our power went out for 3 hours. We ran on generators, but computers and air conditioning aren't on the important list. So I ended up teaching in the dark on the board with hot sweaty, stinky, kids. Boy let me tell you they sure learned a lot today! All they wanted to do was talk about how hot it was (it was 80 degrees in my room) and ask me to let them go home. Like I have any say in that. They seem to think I have more power than I do. :) So that is about it. Have a great week. We hope to get some work done this weekend as well as some fun. I'll show you updated photos of the house when we are done! |
